Salt and yeast myth

Myth: Many bread cookbooks recommend keeping salt away from yeast thinking that the salt will kill the yeast.

Sure, if you put your yeast directly in salt water and let it sit you'll have problems. However, in regular baking with modern yeasts you can add the yeast right on top of the salt and the yeast will do fine. I start with the flour, then water and finally the yeast and salt. Never had a problemd
